What happens if I have unclaimed funds?
When payments are unable to be delivered due to incorrect banking information on file (incorrect bank account, expired card/account, closed card/account), the undeliverable funds remain in your DailyPay account or are returned to your employer after 14 days depending on your employer’s policies.
If the undeliverable funds remain in your DailyPay account, DailyPay will attempt to contact you over the next 180 days via email and in app notifications. If the funds in your DailyPay account are left inactive and your bank account or card information is not updated for a period of time, typically about one year(depending on your state laws), DailyPay is required by state unclaimed property laws to transfer the funds in your DailyPay account to the state for safekeeping. DailyPay will send the funds to the state of the address we have on file for you at such time as required by law. About 45 days prior to sending your unclaimed funds to your state, DailyPay will alert you of this process via a letter to the address we have on file for you. Once DailyPay has sent the funds to your state, you can claim the funds directly from your state’s treasury department. It can take up to (depending on your state laws and processing times) 6 months for the information regarding the funds from your DailyPay account to appear on your state’s treasury website. DailyPay can no longer directly assist you with getting your unclaimed funds once they have been sent to the state. In the event your account did not have a state/address on file, DailyPay will send the funds to the state of Delaware. Their website listed here: https://unclaimedproperty.delaware.gov/
