What are pre-authorizations?
Merchants like gas stations, hotels, and car rental companies often use pre-authorizations to guarantee payment for the services they provide. Pre-authorizations hold available funds on your DailyPay Card until the merchant sends us the final payment amount of your purchase.
Once the final payment amount is received, the pre-authorization is removed. During the hold period, which can take up to 7 days, you can’t spend the pre-authorized amount.
Good to know
If you use your DailyPay Card at a gas station, the transaction may be pre-authorized for up to $175.00 or more. To avoid this issue, pay for the amount of gas you’d like at the register before you pump.
Good to know
If you use your DailyPay Card at a restaurant, hotel, or car rental agency, the transaction may be pre-authorized for the purchase amount plus up to 20% or more. This amount makes sure there is enough money available to cover your purchase as well as tips or other incidental expenses.
